Botox® and Injectible Facial Fillers

BOTOX®

 

Botox is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) injectible treatment that temporarily reduces fine lines, crow’s feet and smoothes out wrinkles and frown lines between the brows.

 

Botox is a purified protein made by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause the fore mentioned lines to form.

 

A general treatment typically takes up to 10-15 minutes with noticeable results within two-three days and can last for up to four months. Botox is effective on both men and women. The reduction of fine lines and wrinkles creates a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

JUVEDERM®

 

Juvederm is a facial filler consisting of a smooth gel that when injected help to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles, worry lines, smile lines (nasolabial folds), crow’s feet, marionette lines at corners of the mouth (oral commissures), and smoker’s lines (vertical lip lines).  Juvederm is made of Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to hydrate and add volume to the skin.

 

Juvederm injections typically take approximately 15-20 minutes to perform. The results are immediate and actually improve over the following week.  The longevity of Juvederm is determined on whether sufficient volume was used initially to correct the specific area. Using more than one syringe of Juvederm may be required for optimal results.

 

Most side effects are mild in nature and typically last up to five days. The most common side effects include, but are not limited to: redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, bruising, itching, and discoloration.

 

 

RADIESSE®

 

Radiesse is safe and effective FDA approved dermal filler used for the correction of facial lines, wrinkles and folds, including the deepening of nasolabial folds, accentuated smile lines (sometimes called “marionette lines”), fallen cheek pads and sagging jaw lines. It provides more longevity than any of the other leading dermal fillers on the market today. 

 

Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin during a minimally invasive procedure. The results from Radiesse injections are immediate. For the first three months after injection, Radiesse acts as a typical filler substance by ‘filling’ lines and wrinkles and plumping up the skin. Then due to its unique collagen-generating properties, Radiesse stimulates new tissue development for extended correction for up to an additional year. The aesthetic benefits from Radiesse last for a total of 9-12 months

 

Temporary swelling occurs after Radiesse injections for up to two days and cannot be used in the lips.

Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are a non-invasive way to restore wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin using a chemical solution to peel away the skin's top layers. The new cells that form during the healing process produce smoother, tighter, and younger looking skin.

Chemical peels can be used on the full face or on specific regions, such as the forehead or the area around the mouth. Light, medium and small-area deep peels typically take from 10 to 15 minutes per session, while full-face deep peels may require additional time. Light and medium peels are usually repeated within a few weeks or months.

Laser Hair Removal

The Laser Hair Removal procedure is performed with Candela GentleYAG, the most advanced laser equipment which focuses laser light energy at the surface of the skin targeting pigment in hair follicles. The laser is effective on all skin tones and ethnicities; however, gray, white/silver, blonde and some shades of red hair can not be treated.

 

I would recommend laser over waxing for anyone; less pain and less money over time. – Patient RD

This laser light energy quickly heats the targeted hair follicle while the skin is cooled and essentially destroys the hair in a process known as photothermolysis. With each laser treatment, you can expect to see less hair to grow back and with each following treatment - typically up to six - the hair becomes finer and/or is permanently and safely removed. 

 

Laser Hair Removal can be performed on the abdomen, arm, underarms, back, bikini, chest, face, neck and legs.  Results vary based on location of hair removal and specific hormone conditions.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a cosmetic procedure where a formula tailored to each individual for a desired result is injected into layers of fat beneath the skin. The treatment can be used for cellulite treatment, weight loss, wrinkle prevention and skin restoration and is a popular alternative to invasive treatments like liposuction.

The injection formula is comprised of a combination of homeopathic and pharmaceutical medications, amino acids, plant extracts, vitamins, and minerals. Some of the ingredients are for breaking down the fat inside the cells, others for improving the metabolism that processes the destroyed fat and the rest for cosmetic improvements like skin elasticity.

There is no downtime associated with Mesotherapy and minimal pain or bruising.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion treatments utilizes microparticles, or a diamond-tipped wand, to remove the epidermis (top layer of your skin) and stimulate new skin growth by gently sanding the skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer. This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration and sun damage.

There are two kinds of microdermabrasion treatments including one which involves a hand-held device that streams tiny crystals across your skin, while an attached vacuum simultaneously suctions those exfoliating crystals back into the machine, along with the dead or loosened skin. The second approach uses a diamond-tip wand that is gently moved across your skin to exfoliate.  Microdermabrasion also helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion.

VNUS Closure

The VNUS Closure procedure is a minimally invasive treatment alternative with less pain and less bruising when compared to traditional vein stripping surgery and laser treatment. Using the Closure system, physicians close the diseased veins by inserting the Closure catheter into a vein and heating the vein wall using temperature-controlled RF energy. Heating the vein wall causes collagen in the wall to shrink and the vein to close. After the vein is sealed shut, blood then naturally reroutes to healthy veins.

Venous reflux or venous insufficiency develops when the valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs become damaged or diseased. Closure catheters are inserted into the vein via a tiny incision in the lower leg, eliminating the need for groin surgery and general anesthesia. Because treatment with Closure is minimally invasive and is catheter-based, it results in little to no scarring.
